The past couple of days have been all about getting to know Icelanders and their culture. We explored the town of Isafjordur with Lisbet and her 14-year-old daughter Sara, who then spent the day hanging out with everyone, listening to music, and beating everyone at basketball. Lisbet showed us the local church, where some of the students showed off their piano skills. Today we went to nearby Thingeyri where a Viking festival was happening. We talked to lots of Icelandic people and took pictures that we later discussed as a group. We also entered a Kabb (popular Nordic game) tournament… and WON! Our driver, Sturla, joined us for dinner. All of us have become pretty big Sturla fans, and he’s a great source of Icelandic jokes.
