This day of our program began with an early start, because we had to catch a ferry in a port town on the other side of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. The ferry was our ride northward to the Westfjords. On the boat most of us napped, but some played cards or read books. Looking out the window, we even caught a glimpse of a whale!
Once in the Westfjords, we made a stop at a natural hot spring with a soaking pool, which was located right next to the ocean. We enjoyed warming up in the tub then dousing in the frigid sea. We sat in soft grass and overlooked the peaceful scene while eating our packed lunches. Then we continued to our guest house to find very comfortable accommodations overlooking the ocean, mountains, and small fishing town of Patreksfjörður. We settled in, ate a dinner of homestyle spaghetti with ice cream for dessert, then got a chance to relax, hang out, and enjoy some more card games as a group.
